CHRISTMAS IS COMING
After a year of mixed market experiences, I was a little forlorn and worried that my products although well received just weren’t right. Finding suitable markets was also a hurdle I struggled with. Christmas markets in particular can be a difficult one to grasp, as applications and deadlines come and go so quickly. So last summer (2014) decided to learn from my mistakes and be more proactive with doing markets and doing more research.
I found Bert and Gerts, who run various markets up and down the country. Through them I booked a monthly stall at Old Spitalfields market. It sounds corny but the more you put yourself out there, the more opportunities come your way. By doing a regular market I found out about Urban Makers East, a local collective of designer makers hosting community events and markets. I have lived in Bow in East London for 10 years and in the past 4 years I have really noticed a change in the community spirit.
This year Urban Makers East are hosting two Christmas markets at St Pauls Church at the top of Roman Road market. I have a real soft spot for Roman Road market, as I used to live there. I will be selling a both markets, along side some fabulous designer makers from across London, festive food. music and workshops. The markets have also been featured in Love East Magazine, a wonderful local magazine, please have a read.
